It does not diagnose health conditions or certify the home as safe, and each parameter is a separate method with its own limits.

Before we sample
The conditions are yours to hold
For several parameters the validity of the result depends on conditions the occupant maintains. A sample taken under the wrong conditions is not a conservative result, it is an invalid one, so these matter as much as the equipment.
What to hold steady during sampling
- Maintain closed-building conditions for a radon test, for the full minimum duration
- Keep normal living conditions for other parameters, no airing the house out first
- Avoid cleaning, cooking smoke or heavy activity right before sampling
- Tell AZHI about pets, recent remodels and HVAC or evaporative-cooler use
Why timing matters here
Desert air is a moving target
Phoenix makes indoor air unusually time-sensitive. Dry-season dust events, monsoon humidity swings and evaporative cooling all move the numbers, so a reading taken one afternoon can differ from another day. That is why a single sample is read as a snapshot of its own conditions, and why we ask what was happening in the home when you noticed the concern.

Air quality questions we get asked
Will an air test tell me if my house is safe or healthy?
No. A test measures specific airborne parameters at the locations and times sampled, under the conditions present. It gives you data to act on, but a limited sample cannot prove a home is healthy, safe, or free of the concern, and it never diagnoses health effects.
If you test for mold spores, will you find where the mold is coming from?
Not from the air sample alone. An airborne spore sample screens what is in the air at that spot and time, often against an outdoor comparison. Locating a hidden source involves moisture investigation and is separate work; clearing a home after remediation is different again.
Can this testing prove my family's symptoms are caused by the house?
No. No indoor air measurement can establish that symptoms are or are not caused by a building. That is a medical question for a physician. Testing can only report measured conditions, which you and your doctor may choose to consider.
Do I get results the same day?
It depends on the parameter. Direct-reading measurements such as carbon monoxide, particle counts, and humidity can often be noted on site, while parameters analyzed by an accredited laboratory, such as mold spore identification or specific VOCs, return on the lab's timeline. Exact turnaround should be confirmed with AZHI when you book.
Which of these parameters does AZHI actually test?
The exact list of analytes offered, and which are sampled on site versus sent to an accredited outside laboratory versus referred to a specialist, is confirmed directly by AZHI. Tell them your specific concern when you book so they can confirm whether it is something they measure.
Is a radon test a one-time answer?
Treat it as a screening step. Radon results depend on the device placement, the duration, and maintaining closed-building conditions during the test, and short-term readings can differ from longer-term averages. Arizona radon levels are area-dependent, so a single test characterizes that test period, not the home forever.
Is this the same as your regular home inspection?
No. Indoor air quality testing targets specific airborne parameters and is a separate service from AZHI's general home inspection, which evaluates the home's major systems. If you need both, mention it so they can be scheduled appropriately.
